Dr. Sloan Massie grew up in southern Ontario and attended the University of Guelph, where she completed a Bachelor’s degree in Zoology. From there, she moved to Ireland to attend University College Dublin’s School of Veterinary Medicine. During veterinary school, Dr. Massie volunteered with the Canadian Animal Assistance Team (CAAT) and provided primary veterinary care to a remote community in the Yukon. After graduation, she relocated to Newfoundland to complete a small animal rotating internship at a specialty hospital, gaining a strong appreciation for emergency medicine. Dr. Massie is particularly interested in ultrasonography, wound management and exotic pet care.
Outside of the hospital, Dr. Massie enjoys hiking and sea swimming; she is also involved with various wildlife conservation organizations. She is excited to explore more of Vancouver Island and has sworn off mainland living for the foreseeable future!
