Dr. Koji Aoki is a surgery specialist and a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Surgeons. He grew up in Japan, attended veterinary college, and worked there as a veterinarian. However, his passion towards surgery and veterinary medicine never stopped and he decided to go to the U.S. to further advance his skills and knowledge. He spent four years in the U.S and came to Canada in 2015 for a small animal surgery residency at the University of Saskatchewan. After completing his residency, he remained as a surgery faculty at the University. Even after he became a surgery specialist, his immense passion toward veterinary medicine continues to provide high standard patient care, education for students, and research. Dr. Aoki has gained many awards, and those include the Hill’s outstanding resident in 2017, Clinical Professor of the year award at the University in 2021, and the best teacher of the year selected by Canadian Veterinary Medicine Association in 2022. Dr. Aoki spends half of the year as a member of WAVES and rest of the time as a surgery faculty at the University of Saskatchewan. Dr. Aoki has two dogs, Sam and Daisy, and enjoys being outdoors with them.
